This is according to a data report, titled Insights into India’s Cricket Frenzy, released by UCWeb, a business within Alibaba Mobile Business Group. More than 50% of the country’s population logged on to the UCWeb platforms over the last 3 months for cricket scores and updates.

Cricket makes up for 68% of all sports-related content consumed on UC News. On a daily basis, over 3 million cricket fans checked into the UC Platform to consume cricket-related content, clocking in 7 million hours of cumulative content reading – a jump of 230% from last year. UC Platform saw maximum traction from the cities of Lucknow, Pune, Bhopal and Delhi and Mumbai. The IPL Final was the most watched match of the IPL season with 21 million views and Kolkata Knight Riders emerged as the Most Popular Team of IPL 2017, followed by Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils. Captain of the National Cricket team, Virat Kohli remains the most popular player, clocking readership of over 32 million across 4600 articles. Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khar were the other top-read cricketers.

Weavers at Centre stage of current season of India Runway Week

It would seem that no matter how big the India Runway Week gets, there you will always find fresh new names. Of course, the old designers continue every season. This is the 8th season of India Runway Week which is starting from 28th of April.

 

The weavers of India are its biggest assets. Indian hand woven fabrics have been known since time immemorial. India was famous even in ancient times as an exporter of textiles to most parts of the civilized world but throughout history and currently too there are evidences that show that weavers have always been a victim of a staunch hierarchical system. Being at the bottom of the system they fall prey to the extreme forms of exploitation.

There are organizations that are identified as a promising means of raising voice for them and generating livelihood for hundreds of rural artisans. They have made a significant contribution to the lives of the women artisans working with it, which has helped improve their economic as well as social status.

 

They strive to bring the traditions of India to customers all around the world with its unique creations and products. A 3-day Vintage Motoring & cultural extravaganza begins at India Gate

Each year, the 21 Gun Salute Heritage & Cultural Trust is honored to host India’s most premium vintage car event, the 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show, and this year also, the 7th edition of the event was inaugurated amongst renowned national & international car aficionados & connoisseurs of culture, art & history.

100s’ of rare marques were at display along with a grand celebration with dances, arts and culture that made the 7th edition of The 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show, a timeless experience. The event welcomed thousands of visitors from around the globe and many eminent guests, royal families and renowned personalities at the India Gate Grounds (August Kranti Park), New Delhi. The historic war memorial – India Gate, is located on the eastern edge of the ‘ceremonial axis’ of New Delhi. Oceedee created a variation of leather shoes which included checkered designs, 3D embroideries, and rainforest themed embroidery. The naïve child like perspective of Henri Rousseau’s art form the inspiration for the embroideries on the shoes while the checkered designs give a contrast to the clothes. In Henri’s art, we see a flower petal metamorphoses into a swan; the leaves into a zebra; flock of birds emerge from the leaves reflecting magical mirroresque impressions. Traditional artisans bring to life 3D embroidery techniques on natural textiles like cotton voile and organdy inspired by Rousseau’s artworks which are then transferred on to the leather shoes.
