UCWeb Registers User Traffic of 0.75 Billion During IPL and ICC Champions Trophy 2017

This is according to a data report, titled Insights into India’s Cricket Frenzy, released by UCWeb, a business within Alibaba Mobile Business Group. More than 50% of the country’s population logged on to the UCWeb platforms over the last 3 months for cricket scores and updates.

Cricket makes up for 68% of all sports-related content consumed on UC News. On a daily basis, over 3 million cricket fans checked into the UC Platform to consume cricket-related content, clocking in 7 million hours of cumulative content reading – a jump of 230% from last year. UC Platform saw maximum traction from the cities of Lucknow, Pune, Bhopal and Delhi and Mumbai. UC Cricket, a key component within UC Browser, was first introduced in 2013 to offer news and updates about cricket matches. It has now evolved to become a comprehensive cricket content platform. For the latest cricket season, UC News, content and news distribution platform of UCWeb, introduced a special section to offer comprehensive news and cricket-related content for the users.

The IPL Final was the most watched match of the IPL season with 21 million views and Kolkata Knight Riders emerged as the Most Popular Team of IPL 2017, followed by Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils. Captain of the National Cricket team, Virat Kohli remains the most popular player, clocking readership of over 32 million across 4600 articles. Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khar were the other top-read cricketers.

Alibaba Mobile Business Group, part of Alibaba Digital Media and Entertainment, has announced the appointment of Damon Xi as Head of UCWeb India and Indonesia office. In his new role, Damon will be in charge of the UCWeb ecosystem along with content cooperation within India and Indonesia markets. Celebrating International Workers’ Day on May 1, UC News, a news and content aggregation platform from Alibaba Mobile Business Group, has kicked off its ‘The Spirit of Work’ campaign. UC News is inviting users and fans across the country to share their success stories, providing them a platform to say ‘Thank You’ to people who have worked hard and played a key role in making their life a success. The campaign, running on UC News from April 23-27, has already been a major success with multiple celebrities including Raveena Tandon, Chef Vikas Khanna, Kiran Bedi and TV personalities Divyanka Tripathi, along with Kamya Punjabi, sharing their heartfelt stories with everyone.

Expressing her gratitude, noted actor Raveena Tandon sent a special ‘Thank You’ to her driver and her make-up man. Raveena lost her makeup man Praveen Bhatte last year but continues to remember him on key occasions. Raveena’s driver is still with him and is like a family member to her.

Thanking the farmers, caretakers, vendors, cooks and servers for their labour, Chef Vikas Khanna wrote, “Many invisible hands till, sow, water, nurture, care, harvest, treat, carry, transport, weight, pack, stock, sell and finally lovingly cook. I bow to them today and every day.

The camp’s focus was to launch L’oreal Paris new hair product ‘Pro Fiber’ at Indica Makeover Studio. The L’oreal crew provided a free hair and scalp testing and solutions to problems. Also, they provided a free shampoo and conditioner treatment according to the hair type. The camp witnessed a lot of house makers, college going girls, and many working ladies. In the end all had happy faces with beautiful and shiny tresses.

Lianne Texeira is not a new name in fashion industry. After featuring in commercials for a number of leading brands such as L’Oreal, Vivel, MTV and Channel V among many others, Lianne is now all set to make her acting debut in the online entertainment space with ‘Alisha’, which will air on Culture Machine’s lifestyle channel Blush starting December 4, 2015.

Lianne plays the role of 24-year-old fashion blogger turned investigator Alisha. A Goan Bombayite dwelling in Bandra, she is young, spunky and urban girl next door and has a Sherlockian eye for detail. Although, fashion is her occupation of choice, her attitude is of a detective. Bohemian at heart and lover of fashion, music and adventure, Alisha mixes work with pleasure by being a consulting detective in fashion industry. Stylish in every sense, Alisha follows and sets the fashion trends on one hand, while solving small time crime mysteries in the fashion industry on the other. Alongside Alisha is her best friend forever Tania Rampal aka Tanny played by Sara Hashmi of Dil Dhadhakne Do fame.
