Delhi witnesses an evening as gorgeous as the celebrities and audience that graced it. The Ravishing Wedding Awards gala celebrated the achievement and eminence of the Indian wedding industry which was in full attendance at Orana Hotels & Resorts, Delhi on March , 2017. Bollywood actress, the evergreen UrmilaMatondkar came on a vintage car and added glamour to the stage and the show by felicitating the winners of awards in various categories like wedding planning, catering, décor, bridal wear& groomwear designing, hair and makeup, jewellery and many more.


The event was hosted by RK Nanda and Shweta Nanda of Magic Media World and was managed by Sunny Sabharwal of Pulse Events. Anuj Bery of Murano gave support by being an associate for the show. Amit Gupta of Orana Hotels & Resorts was gracious enough to be the hospitality partner and Konica Arora dolled up the models by being the hair and makeup partner. The rock solid support of many names of the wedding fraternity was evident –Dharmendra Singh of The Wedding Frames, Rahul Makkar of Purpleberry, Suneet Jain of Aamour Invites, SaurabhKatyal of Imagine Ice, Vivacity Entertianment and more.


The showstopper for the evening was literally, the stunning, Malaika Arora who not only felicitated the winners but also walked the ramp for designer AsmaGulzar who showcased her indo-western collection title ‘The Augustan Aristocracy’. Malaika dazzled in jewellery from Tirupati Jewels by Varun Mittal and took the stage with élan.

Both the actresses praised the talent and the hard work of the wedding fraternity and applauded the platform that The Ravishing Wedding Awards provided to them. Awards were given in 50 categories and won by many talented individuals like RikantPitti, , SumitKohli, Suneeti Soni, Manali Tanwar, AnjuLamba, KritiDS,PralayDatta, Manmeet Kaur, Shefali Agarwal, Gaurav Chauhan, RatikaVaish, YashikaSehgal, Neeti Ahuja, DushyantKathuria, TaaraMalhota, Neha Munjal, Ankita Roy and others.

Jharkhand is India’s largest producer of Tussar and Kuchai silks

Fashion show showcases fine collection of garments designed in ethnic silk weaved by the artisans of Jharkhand

From incredible sarees designed in lustrous tussar silk to kurtas woven from Kuchai — garments created from some of the best organic fabric of Jharkhand were on glorious display as internationally acclaimed designers showcased their work at the Amazon India Fashion Week today.

Some of India’s top fashion designers including Rina Dhaka, Shaina NC, Shruti Sancheti, Divya and Ambika Jain showcased their latest fashion collections designed from Jharkhand’s rich fabrics and handloom at the grand fashion show put together by Jharcraft. Top models sashayed the ramp displaying the elegant collections with elan as the designers showcased their designs made of Tussar silk, Kuchai silk and other handloom fabrics of Jharkhand.

Jharcraft (Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd) conceived the fashion event with an objective to put spotlight on to the exquisite and organic fabrics handcrafted by craftspersons of the state.

Union Minister for Textiles Smt Smriti Irani also paid a visit to the Jharcraft pavilion and took a close look at the handloom collection. She also discussed the initiatives being undertaken to help artisans from the state to achieve better market access and improve their livelihood.

Tussar Silk, a special silk variety produced in eastern and central India, primarily in Jharkhand, was the special focus of the collection. India is the second largest producer of Tussar silk and the exclusive producer of Indian Tussar (also known as tropical tussar). In recent years, Jharkhand state has emerged as the largest producer of Tussar silk in the country.

The artisans producing the silk are largely poor tribals from Jharkhand state. In its quest to improve sources of livelihood for these artisans, Jharcraft works to promote their work and take it to national and international platforms.

“These silks are a deep manifestation of the tribal arts and crafts of the region and reflect the well-springs of creativity endowed with the ethnic communities of Jharkhand. Recognizing it as a source of income, the artisans of the state have in recent years further cultivated and enhanced their skills as well as variety of products. Jharkhand is today the leading producer of Tussar silk which is attracting much attention, especially among the discerning fabric lovers. By associating with such an event and showcasing Tussar silk and garments made of other handlooms of Jharkhand, our attempt is to take ours fabrics and handlooms to international markets,” said K Ravi Kumar, Managing Director, Jharcraft.

Tussar silk is made from silkworms. Some varieties produced in Jharkhand is also known as ‘Ahimsa’ silk because unlike the traditional process, this process allows silkworms to leave the cocoons before the cocoons are soaked in boiling water and reeled. The use of 100% natural dyes made from tree bark, vegetables, wild grasses and flowers ensure purely organic silk.

elegance. The designer has used handcrafted embellishments on the garments predominantly
gold and resham work.
The embroideries depicted through an intricate designs made by branches of trees on the
ensembles reinforcing hope .

The essence of the collection has been shot with sculptures which are nature inspired like the
work of highly acclaimed artists like Jayasri Burman, Narayan Sinha, S. Nanda Gopal, K.S.
Radhakrishnan and Subrata Paul giving the perfect backdrop for the designers thought process.
The merging of fashion and art is an area of keen interest for Charu Parashar and has been
captured beautifully in the A/W 17 lookbook. Their integrated affair is most mesmerizing to the
designer .

In the ongoing year, UC News will select 1000 high quality We-Media creators in India & Indonesia, with a minimal payout of Rs 50,000 per month.

1. Participation Conditions
The account needs to be registered on the platform for more than 30 days
The account should have more than 10 articles successfully published in the last 30 days
No plagiarism, low quality content or violation of local laws/ regulations records

If any contributor matches the above criterion, he/ she can apply on the official website.

Adhere to a healthy operation, to ensure the legitimacy of the content shared. Practices such as unethical publication of illegal, unhealthy, fraud, infringement, improper marketing and other content will terminate [Super 1000]. The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel hosts a special movie screening for the children of Noida Deaf Society


The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, a landmark destination for both business and leisure travellers in the city, organised a special screening of the movie ‘Chota Bheem’ for the students of the Noida Deaf Society.

The objective of the initiative was to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the children of the school and make it special for them.
